As the divide between rural and urban expands, Ag. Societies fill a special role by helping people understand agriculture and it's impact. To help people understand where their food comes from, SAASE has developed two educational displays that are available to our member fairs. These two displays come complete with all pieces and information and are easy to set-up.
The first display that SAASE created was the It's a Pizza . This award winning display shows how the ingredients of a pizza come from agricultural products. Developed in concert with various commodity groups and agricultural organizations, the display ties the ingredients of pizza - wheat, eggs and oil for the crust, herbs and spices, vegetables for the sauce, vegetables, meat and dairy/cheese for the toppings - to their origins on the farm.
The display benefits commodity groups and agricultural organizations by providing a vehicle for delivery of their Ag-Ed messages. This is intended to be an educational display and school tours are an important part of the program. The primary audience is children in grades 1 to 3, but it will have significant benefit to higher grades and is an excellent family group experience as well. The newest agricultural educational display is the AG-EXperience. This provincial display will be unveiled at this year's Convention. Saskatoon Prairieland Park featured the AG-EXperience at their Exhibition last summer, and has helped SAASE put together this display that will be available to all our Ag. Societies.
This display comes with signage, interactive computer games, information and coloring books! |
